First Appointment

Before:

Try not to eat a large meal, or do strenuous physical activity for 30 minutes to 1 hour before your appointment

Please arrive 15 minutes early for paperwork, or download Forms online

You may choose to download and fill out all of your forms online. Visit the "Forms" section under the "About Insight" menu.

Required forms for Acupuncture visits include:
1) Acupuncture Intake form
2) Hppa form
3) Financial Policies Form

All forms are available in Word format. Otherwise, please arrive for your visit 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment in order to fill out your paperwork.

What to expect:

1) Review of all intake forms. Feel free to ask any questions about the paperwork.

2) Assessment for treatment includes:

Interview

Your acupuncturist will ask additional questions. All information obtained is specifically related to assessment and treatment. As a client, you certainly have every right to ask questions about the process, the rationale, and the strategy behind the upcoming treatment.

pulse assessment -

Pulses are taken at your wrist (radial artery), in 3 positions. This information gives your acupuncturist information as to how your body's systems are working together.

tongue assessment

Your acupuncturist will observe the shape, coloration and coating of your tongue to gather diagnostic information for use in your

acupuncture treatment. Try to avoid smoking, or eating colored foods for 30 minutes before your appointment.

Treatment

Treatment will be explained to your satisfaction. If you decide not to pursue a particular treatment, you will still be expected to pay for the full cost of the initial intake, and your treatment cost may be pro-rated and re-scheduled for a future date.

Treatment may consist of acupuncture, acupressure, cupping, gua-sha, or acupressure with an "acu-pen" or small, microcurrent device. All treatments will be explained fully.

After your appointment

Try to avoid any activity that may be considered too invigorating for up to 2 hours after your appointment.
